Beautiful Antique Kestner Doll 154, 8 1/2. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. This beautiful Kestner doll is 21 inches tall. She has brown paperweight eyes that open and close. Also, she has eyelashes! The doll has her original pate that has never been removed. The human hair wig, also original, is attached to the pate and is blond human hair with little curls on the ends. She’s a heavy doll. The kid leather is so supple and pristine. I don’t see any leaking of sawdust at all. The rivets and joints are all intact. The knees bend very smoothly. The arms just move up and down, not from side to side. The head and shoulder plate are completely intact and clean. The hands and arms, bisque, are all intact with no missing fingers. The clothes fit her quite well. I know the little green sweater was added. And I feel like the dress and underclothes are original to her since they fit so perfect. I think maybe the dress is some type of underdress because it’s sleeveless. But the sweater gives it a dress look. She has little white leather shoes and silky feeling socks. Finally, she has a little cameo necklace and a cream silk bow in her hair. This doll is clean and close to mint, depending on your judgement. My favorite part of this exceptional Kestner is her toes...the individual stitches forming them. The thing that concerns me is the removal of the pate to stuff the head. I can certainly try to moisten around the edges to lift it. However, the originality will be compromised. I know it’s supposed to be stuffed for safety of the eyes. But, I can wrap her head in a baby diaper and bubbles with plenty of padding and double box her. Also I would pack her face down because it seems to me that this would lessen the pressure on the eyes. Incidentally, there is some provenance with her. I have a bill of sale that I will send with her..she was purchased at a Theriault auction in Seattle, WAback in 2005 for the sum of 5.
